Bridges History

Our Material Recycling Facility (MRF) that services Patrick Air Force Base, Cape Canaveral Air Station, and Kennedy Space Center opened in 1998.


  • ‘Brevard County Association of Retarded Children’ Incorporated.

  • Program re-located to Central Pine Grove School.

  • Aquarius Hall Residential Program for boys opened.

  • Cedar Street built and programs re-located in new building.

  • Hickory Street building in Melbourne established.

  • Springwood group home built (24 beds). Rockledge.

  • Woodsmere group home built (15 beds). Rockledge.

  • Supported Living program established

  • Respite Services established

  • Material Recycling Facility built at PAFB

  • Melrose (6-bed,Titusville) and Sherwood (6 bed-Melbourne) established.

  • Employment Services program established

  • Bridgette Bear mascot comes out of hibernation.

  • ‘Patriot House’ for homeless and disabled veterans established.

  • Bridges Foundation established from original charter in 1997

  • Cedar Street therapeutic day program building renovation/addition completed.

  • ‘Cycle Point’ electronic scrap recycling program established.
