The Bridges Employment Services Team was created over 5 years ago to meet the high demand for employment training and assistance. Our goal is to tailor our services according to the needs and desires of our individuals. Unlike traditional job placement agencies, we take the time to explore our individual’s career goals.
We meet the workforce needs of area businesses by providing qualified, productive, and dedicated individuals, while providing the necessary support to sustain successful career placements and promote career advancement opportunities.
Our Employment Services Team doesn’t just find jobs for our individuals, we are dedicated to finding the perfect employment match for them. We believe in networking with our community and business partners to open the doors to better paying and more fulfilling jobs. We are currently serving over 160 individuals in Brevard County in our many programs.
Our Employment Services Department offers a variety of services depending on the needs of the individual:
We offer our individuals a series of job readiness workshops where they learn tips on how to land a job and what they should expect once employed. We assist our individuals with a variety of career skills, such as: Application and resume tips, proper greetings, interviewing techniques, follow-up protocol, and how to handle change and conflict in the workplace. During this process, each individual will participate in practice mock interviews to prepare them for the interview process. Our workshop also offers individuals the chance to network and share ideas with fellow job seekers.
We work diligently to identify employment opportunities within the community by networking with various businesses and Chambers of Commerce, as well as prospecting for new business opportunities. Our job coaches can provide expert advice in regards to resume construction, interview tips, and other job-hunting skills. Once our individuals have gained a position we will continue to support our individual, as well as the business, to ensure successful long-term employment.
We partner with several businesses in Brevard County to provide paid, on-site training opportunities for our individuals. This opportunity is ideal for job seekers looking to gain experience in a particular field. Our On-the-Job Training sites include opportunities in fields such as: Automotive, Clerical, Medical, Janitorial, Food Service, Technological, and many more!
We offer this unique employment services to individuals with more significant disabilities who may require more constant on-going support to maintain successful employment. These services include: Employment Development, Job Coaching and other Post-Hire support.
Our Employment Services Department has a unique high school transition program for young adults with disabilities called Project SEARCH. This is an unpaid internship program where the students receive hands-on training opportunities in a variety of departments within The City of Palm Bay. The students get to choose what skills and jobs they want to learn among the numerous departments. Upon completion of the program they are provided with Job Placement Services to help them secure long-term successful employment. This program is a collaborative effort between Vocation Rehabilitation, Brevard Public Schools, Agency for Persons with Disabilities, The City of Palm Bay, and Bridges.
